It is with a heavy heart that we confirm the passing of Brooklyn “Brookie” Nicole Smith, 6 years old, of Erlanger, Kentucky. Brooklyn passed away peacefully in her mother’s arms on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, with her family at her side. Brooklyn was a beautiful and strong little girl. Despite being diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) just 7 days after her 5th birthday, she retained the remarkable ability to smile through it all. She attended St. Joseph Academy in Walton, Kentucky, is an active member of the DIPG Collaborative, a member of the Lakemont Community, and the 2016 Hyde Park Blast Ambassador. The family would like to thank the community for their support during this difficult journey. They especially would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center for the excellent care and attention that was shown to her.

At this time, we ask all Smile for Brooklyn supporters to send communications through Smile for Brooklyn via our contact page or on Facebook. Please do not contact Brooklyn’s parents directly during their time of healing.

Further information will be available on the funeral home’s website: www.stithfuneralhomes.com.
